Our Story

Growing good oysters – really good ones – is a hands-on job that requires an understanding of aquaculture and an uncompromising drive to coax the oysters into becoming the very best they can be.

And if you want to be more than a hobbyist, you’ve also got to have tenacity, moxie, and an unrelenting attitude toward oystering. Bear Tide Oysters is a family business founded on these characteristics.

Our Bear Tide Oysters Have a Story to Tell

Always an avid saltwater fisherman with an anchor on the shoreline south of Boston, Kyle Marble had his first boat years before his first car, and has had his commercial fishing and lobster license for longer than his driver’s license.

Seeing an opportunity to use better oyster farming practices, consolidate several varied tidal exposure farms, and develop strategies to allow for consistent year-round delivery of premium oysters, Kyle jumped.

Through determination and dedication, Bear Tide grew to 8 acres of premium oyster farms, millions of oysters, along with a full service 7,500 sq ft wholesale processing facility, offering just-in-time harvesting. Farm to table, as fresh as possible... Bear Tide Oysters was born.

Today, Kyle, his wife Megan, and their son Bear are putting Plymouth oysters on the map through their love of the area, commitment to being the best, and—simply put—a drive to produce Fiercely Good Oysters.
