Bear Tide Oysters:
They’re That Shucking Good

Here are the Bear Tide top pro tips for shucking our oysters.

  1. Start with a good oyster – the cool water and tidal conditions of Plymouth make for oysters that have better shucking
  2. Get a good quality glove – a chainmail glove is well worth the investment
  3. Use a firm grip – use your full hand, not just your fingertips and always keep your eye on where you’re shucking; apply the force gradually to pop the hinge
  4. Remove grit with ice water – keep a cup or bowl of ice water at hand to dunk your knife and glove and remove grit as you go

And you’re on your way! Enjoy!
